1) God loves you,
and has a plan for your life.
No matter what you have done
in the past, no matter how good or bad you think that you have been, God has
prepared a special plan for your life that only you can fulfill. The fact that
He has designed a plan specifically for you proves that you are very important
to God.
2) No one can earn
God's favor through their own good deeds.
There is a fundamental
difference between Christianity and religions. All religions teach that it is
through good works that one becomes right with God. There are also Christian
cults that teach this doctrine known as 'works-righteousness.' However, the
Bible tells us:
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not
of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should
boast. Ephesians 2:8,9 -New King James Bible
While religions teach that
doing good deeds earns the good-doer favor with God, the Bible teaches that
righteousness (right-standing with God) is a free gift that God gives us through
His son, Jesus Christ. Good works come as a result of finding favor with God.
Ephesians 2:10 goes on to say:
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
3) God sent His son,
Jesus Christ, to die for our sins.
No one is able to be good
enough to please God on his or her own. No matter how we try we will always fall
short because of our nature that causes us to sin. The Bible says:
"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and
death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned"
Romans 5:12 -New King James Bible
Our sins demand a heavy
price; death. The only way for us to be forgiven of our sins was for a
substitute to die in our place. God provided this substitute by sending His son
Jesus to die in our place on the cross. It is only through faith in Christ that
our sins can be forgiven and we can gain righteousness with God.
4) It is only through faith
in Jesus Christ that we can gain access to God.
This is one of the most
difficult things for most people to accept. The Bible says that:
"Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to
those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders
rejected has become the chief cornerstone, and a stone of stumbling and a
rock of offense. They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which
they also were appointed." I Peter 2:7, 8 -New King James Bible
God has every right to decide
what He will accept as the correct way to come to Him. He is the creator of the
universe. Fortunately God is also very kind and compassionate. He has provided a
way for us to be forgiven, and that way is through faith in Jesus.
This prayer is designed to
lead the one who prays it into a relationship with Jesus Christ. The idea of
offering this prayer is to help the person who is unfamiliar with the Bible's
teachings about salvation. This is by no means the ONLY prayer that will lead to
salvation, but it is a suggestion based upon the following scriptures:
"that if you confess with your
mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him
from the dead, you will be saved. 10
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9, 10 -New King James Bible
Nor is there salvation in any other,
for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be
saved.” Acts 4:12 -New King James Bible
"For God so loved the world that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn
the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16, 17 -New King James Bible
You
can read this prayer right now, or say a prayer that is similar to accept Jesus
Christ as your savior...
| "Father in heaven, I
know that I have sinned, and that no amount of good works could ever make up for
that. I believe that You love me, and that You send Your son Jesus Christ to die
for me. Please forgive me of all my sins. Please come into my heart and teach me
how I should live. I offer You my life to use in whatever way that You see fit.
I trust that You know what is best for me. Thank You for loving me so much.
Change my whole life I pray... in Jesus' name, Amen." |
